“Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate.”–Carl Jung
The Enneagram supports us in freeing ourselves of unconscious patterns by helping us to unearth and name those subterranean thought forms. In what is now an Enneagram “classic” known as The Wisdom of the Enneagram, Don Riso and Russ Hudson share about the unconscious childhood messages that drive each Enneagram Type. It’s important to note here that I don’t necessarily believe that those messages CAUSED us to identify with a certain type. I actually believe that we come into this world with a predisposition to interpret our childhood experience through the lens of a particular Type.
Irrespective of what causes us to get locked into the specific limiting patterns of our Ennea-Type, the good news is that one way out is through AWARENESS.
Do you connect with the unconscious childhood message of your Ennea-Type?
Do you see how it unconsciously drove or drives your behavioral patterns?
Are you more conscious of this limiting belief now and thus more able to choose to question this message and/or to act from a different belief system?
